Plugin: Homepage Excerpts

DailyBlogTips released a very useful plugin namely Homepage Excerpts. The plugin main objectives are to make blogs that use full posts on the homepage more search engine friendly whilst at the same time providing more flexibility to people that want to use both full posts and excerpts on the homepage.

The installation is straightforward as well as configuring it. All you have to do is download the plugin, upload it to your plugin directory, and activate it. Pretty simple eh? Once activated, you can easily customize the way it works. Trust me, you don’t have to squeeze your brain cells to get it done.

The only drawback is, I found this plugin does not include the image as part of the excerpts. Reading the comments from the page, I realized that this plugin does not support image tag. If you need to display the image, you have no option left except to manually created the excerpts.

If you want to keep your text formatting and any html, images and videos, you will need to use the custom excerpt option, and include the part of the post that you want to appear on the homepage on the “Optional Excerpt” field that you have below the WP text editor.

Alternatively, you can either use the <--more--> tag somewhere between your post, creating the same effect of this plugin. However, until I figure it out on how to automated this process, I let this plugin does the job.
